Bitcoin’s next major move may be shaped less by crypto-native trading venues than by the daily creation and redemption activity of regulated exchange-traded funds, as investors use these products to adjust exposure to interest rates, liquidity and risk appetite.

The launch of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the United States changed more than the way traditional investors gain access to digital assets. It created a new transmission channel between conventional financial markets and Bitcoin’s relatively limited supply.

When ETF investors add money, authorized participants typically acquire Bitcoin or arrange for the creation of new fund shares backed by the asset. When investors withdraw, the reverse process can place selling pressure on the market.
